INVITATION TO PRELIMINARY ROUND JUDGING of Start-Up@Singapore 2009

Dear Mr. Jason Ang,

(We have talked on the phone at 2.21pm today and here is the detail for the judging.)

INVITATION TO PRELIMINARY ROUND JUDGING of Start-Up@Singapore 2009

Start-Up@Singapore 2009 has successfully held its Grand Launch on October 22th 2008, officiated by Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports & Ministry of Transport. This year is especially special, as it marks the 10th year of the competition.

Now that the competition is officially underway, it is with the greatest pleasure that we could have you as a judge for the preliminary judging round of Start-Up@Singapore 2009.

This entire process will be done online, in which you will receive about 3 to 5 business plan executive summaries (maximum of 3 A4 pages each) on February 9th 2009, to evaluate over a 3 week period in your own time and space. Your valuable contribution to this stage of the competition will be greatly appreciated and recognized.

Over the past 9 years, the success of the competition depended heavily on the input from the competition judges and the 10th year will be no exception. The judges, like yourself, are highly experienced people from the start-up community, including successful entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, business angels, finance/legal professionals and educationists specialized in the study of entrepreneurship.

Do kindly revert to this email so that we can furnish you with the administration details. I thank you in advance for your generosity in contributing to the cause of promoting entrepreneurship in Singapore.

Please feel free to contact our judging directors, Raphael and Isaac, should you have any queries. I thank you in advance for your generosity in contributing to the cause of promoting entrepreneurship in Singapore.

INVITATION TO SPIRIT OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP 2009 MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Dear Ang Kian You, Jason,

Season Greetings from Spirit of Enterprise!

Spirit of Enterprise (SOE) has always been a dynamic leader in the steering of various programmes that promote the entrepreneurial spirit in Singapore. One of our successful programs by far is the SOE Mentorship Program which provides mentorship guidance to aspiring young entrepreneurs, by giving them the opportunity to tap on the experience, advice and insight of successful real-life entrepreneurs.

Feedback from our previous mentors has found their involvement in the programme to be extremely rewarding.

We are now into our second year of the mentorship scheme and are greatly encouraged by last year’s success. In addition, we are seeing tangible results from our efforts as the upcoming Mentorship programme for 2009 is growing stronger, with more requests coming in from academic institutions across all levels.

As a successful role model in your field, we would like to invite you to be a mentor in this exciting and dynamic programme.

As an overview, these are the mentorship programmes that will be available in 2009:

Primary School Student Entrepreneurship Programme (SEP I)
Secondary school Student Entrepreneurship Programme (SEPII)
NUS Start-Up@Singapore (S@S)
Ngee Ann Polytechnic -Shadow An Entrepreneur
SMU Programme – to be confirmed
If you are interested in contributing your experience, know-how and time, kindly email us to express your interest. You can also specify which particular programme you would be more inclined towards. We will follow up by furnishing on the details.

As a token of appreciation, your name/company will be mentioned on our website under Mentorship Program page.

(Please do note that the level of involvement by mentors is flexible, and would not require more than 20 hours per year. Interactions arranged may be face to face, via email or any mode deemed most convenient by mentors and their mentees).

Thank you very much for your time and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
